SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Collection Key Features: An authentic end-to-end circuit emulation of SSLs iconic analog channel strip exclusively for UAD-2 and Apollo interfaces. Wow. 16 channels of mono or 8 of stereo on their biggest system before maxing out. Pathetic 16 instances on a hardware card for the prize of a computer. Thats why Ive sold my Octo card and got a DUO instead, because I felt I was wasting money on it. Can we nót turn this thréad into a wár over DSP usagé There are pIenty of those thréads already. I use the Brainworx Neve console for most of my tracks which uses little CPU. When I want punchy drums I use the UAD API Vision channel strip. The older UAD SSL was a little smoother than the Waves which was a little punchier. I will compare the Waves to this new UAD SSL version and will see if it is an worthy update. Im really stoked for this I have and use the Waves E-Channel a lot for drums. I think the UAD (now) Legacy sounded better than the Waves one, but I had held off on getting it thus far. When the price goes down reasonably I will definitely be picking this up. This thing really sounds next level compared to the old one (which I still like a lot). How is it okay to pay 1 grand for a dsp card and youre only able to run 16 mono instances of this plugin That means if I want at least 48 tracks, I need 8 cards worth 3 grand LOL I wouldnt mind if the dsp cards were modestly powerful and required by the plugins resources because it sounds so good but nope, you just blow your money for computer hardware thats nearly a decade old, just to run the plugins. I myself ówn UAD plugins wórth more than 3 grand, but Ive felt ed lately, selling my octo because it felt wrong to own given the limited amount of plugins I can use even with their most expensive DSP card. Okay, just to clear it up, I love to see them upgrading the 4k channelstrip because it sounds better than Waves but I wont spend 3 grand on hardware so I can run it on every track. I can get an SSL summing box for that kind of money, because I dont think they changed the EQ but added line amp channel drive emulation including the Pre.
